Moral Transmutations

I propose a new term: Moral transmutation. It is a form of Dark Magick, employed only by evil men who seek power, and ignorant men who support them.

What are moral transmutations? When a moral no-no is transformed into a moral right, by way of delegating to another what one does not himself have. Sounds confusing? It should.

EXHIBIT A – THEFT

You have no moral right to steal from another human being, but you can pass on this right which you do not have to someone else, renaming it taxation.

EXHIBIT B – SLAVERY

The civilized world has long thrown off the shackles of slavery. Or so we're told. While you have no moral right to enslave another human being, you can pass this right you do not have to a government official, who will then euphemistically call it conscription.

EXHIBIT C – MURDER

You cannot legally get away with murder, but the people you vote for can. They call it war.
