First they came for the alcohol, and the conservatives did nothing because they wanted prohibition.

When they came for the gold, the poor people did nothing because they had no gold.

When they came for the drugs, the conservatives did nothing because conservatives didn't like drugs.

When they came for your privacy, your neighbors did nothing because they had nothing to hide.

When they passed red flag laws to confiscate guns, the liberals did nothing because they didn't like guns.

When they came for you, they were well practiced with their no-knock pre-dawn SWAT raids from the drug war. They had already figured out how to confiscate gold for 4 decades. They knew where you were and what you had because you had already lost your privacy, and your neighbors were disarmed because you didn't stand up for their rights.

When they came for you, you were a frog already long-ago boiled in the water.

P.S. The lesson here is: you either stand up for everyone's rights and freedoms, or the government will systematically divide and conquer until there are no more rights and freedoms.
