Kiwix is an amazing project, and the additional resources featured are fantastic.

On the other hand, I feel like the best way to preserve information is in static sites with relative links.

For example, it's not straightforward for another wiki or site to put their content in zim format for kiwix.

Yeah good point. Do you have any recommendations on other ways to preserve resources offline (e.g. some way to download static sites)?

wget has a useful mirror option that helps with this, but it's a command-line utility.

Edit: turns out there are tools in the works that will make making your own .zim files easier https://wiki.openzim.org/wiki/Build_your_ZIM_file
